660 Indiana Lobby Felt Installation
I assisted with Design Development and Construction Administration tasks for this multi-family residential building located in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco. One of the design components I worked on extensively was an art installation.
This installation is located in the lobby/mail room of this multi-family residential building. The exploration of various patterns for this installation ranged from small paper model exploration to full scale, life size mock ups. The final design was composed of folded industrial felt, fastened with stainless steel book screws to form the delicate diamond pattern. The felt performs as an acoustic barrier, and also relates with the concrete wall it is mounted against. Hidden linear lights softly illuminate the installation and accentuate the shadows created by the undulating pattern.
